Chartered Accountant

I never grew up dreaming of becoming a chartered accountant, rather it was something I found myself gravitating towards, through a combination of academic strengths and a desire to see the world! Still, looking back, I have learned that there is no single way of getting ‘there’ (wherever your ‘there’ might be, for me it is currently a position in deal advisory in London), having studied and qualified in South Africa and worked both in and out of practice there, as well as in the US and now London.  

I am always struck by the overwhelming variety of positions available to accountant/finance professionals, making one’s first (second and even third!) step into market particularly daunting. This is something I experienced first-hand and do wish I had sought a mentor, who could have offered guidance, food for thought or be available to bounce ideas off. I hope to bridge this gap now, (nearly!) a decade on.
