Nathan
Commissioning Editor
I am a journalist who writes for the Financial Times. I’m also a commissioning editor: I help decide what goes in the paper and how it should look online and in print.
I’ve been a journalist since I finished my master’s degree in 2010. I’ve written for several different newspapers and magazines; I’ve written news, features and arts reviews. I don’t have any formal qualifications in journalism, instead I started at the FT after completing an internship back in 2011. I’ve worked freelance for most of the time since, contributing to the Evening Standard, Time Out, the FT Magazine and various other publications in the UK and the US.
I got interested in journalism at university, where I edited the student newspaper.
I’d be happy to mentor anyone who wanted to know about journalism, how to get started and how to pitch story ideas.
